Meet the Person #
When Liu Bei was stationed at Xinye, he valued Xu Shu. Xu Shu recommended Zhuge Liang and urged Liu Bei to visit him rather than demand that he come. Recommender, recommended person, and seeker are three distinct relationships.
During Cao Cao's southern campaign, Xu Shu and Zhuge Liang accompanied Liu Bei south. After Liu Bei's defeat, Xu Shu's mother was captured. Xu Shu said farewell to Liu Bei and went to Cao Cao. The main text does not record the novel's forged family letter.
Approximate sequence, not a timeline drawn to scale.
Limits of the Evidence #
The Romance's assumed name, forged-letter plot, and lifelong refusal to offer a single strategy are not added as main-text facts.
