How the Novel Tells It #
Chapter 66 turns the Jing Province dispute into a dramatic banquet hosted by Lu Su, attended by Guan Yu with a blade, and develops the story through Guan Yu taking Lu Su in his grasp to leave.
What the Historical Records Preserve #
Lu Su's biography records the sides confronting each other at Yiyang. Lu Su invited Guan Yu to meet; each stationed troops a hundred paces away, and the generals met carrying single blades to discuss Jing Province's ownership. Main text and Wu Shu quoted in the annotations preserve different details and speeches.

What Cannot Be Inferred #
“Single blade” does not mean Guan Yu alone carried a blade and everyone else was unarmed. Lu Su's accusations in the biography express one negotiating side's account; without analysis they cannot establish a sole settled conclusion to the land dispute.
