Meet the Person #
Zhang Lu's biography identifies him as from Feng in Pei Commandery and records his grandfather Zhang Ling and father Zhang Heng successively transmitting their teachings. Liu Yan appointed him Duyi Sima and sent him against Hanzhong. He later held Hanzhong, styled himself Master Lord, governed through jijiu, and established charity lodges providing rice and meat to travelers. This describes institutions, not an endorsement of miraculous healing.
After defeat in Longshang, Ma Chao briefly sought refuge with Zhang Lu before joining Liu Bei. In Jian'an 20, when Cao Cao advanced into Hanzhong, Zhang Lu first entered Bazhong, sealing rather than burning the stores, then submitted with his family. Cao Cao appointed him General Who Guards the South, treated him as a guest, and enfeoffed him as Marquis of Langzhong.
The main text's conclusion records Cao Cao arranging for his son Pengzu to marry Zhang Lu's daughter, establishing kinship by marriage between the families. This differs from Ma Chao's unrealized marriage proposal. Zhang Lu was posthumously titled Marquis Yuan, and his son Zhang Fu succeeded him.

Limits of the Evidence #
Ma Chao's proposed marriage to Zhang Lu's daughter did not take place and is not listed as kinship. The marriage of Cao Cao's son to Zhang Lu's daughter appears in the main biography. Religious accounts are not treated as supernatural facts.

Related Deeds and Periods
The main text of Zhang Lu's biography records that Cao Cao arranged for his son Pengzu to marry Zhang Lu's daughter, making the two men parents-in-law through their children. Zhang Lu's submission, enfeoffment, and treatment as a guest belong separately to his biography; a military campaign is not being labeled as their personal relationship.
